Mollie Swartzbaugh | GuthrieAmerica Interview

First and last name?

Hello, my name is Mollie Swartzbaugh!

Where were you born?

I was born in Edmond, Oklahoma.

When did you move to Guthrie?

I have lived in the great GuthrieAmerica my entire life.

Why did you move to Guthrie?

This has been my home since day one.

What’s your favorite Guthrie-related memory?

My favorite Guthrie memory is 89er weekend. I love that even being such a small town, we throw an event that brings people from all over the country.

What’s the best part of living in Guthrie?

The best part of Guthrie is our Red Brick Nights events. When you can come up with a better idea than bringing the entire community together with food, music and that much laughter, let me know because I can’t think of it.

What does Guthrie have that other towns don’t?

You know someone everywhere you go. I’ve never been a shy person and kind of have a thing for being surrounded by people.

Are you a GHS Alumni?

Yes.. Go Bluejays

Where do you currently work and how long?

I currently have a few jobs, my main job being that I dispatch at the Guthrie Police Department for police, fire and EMS. My other job is working at Boutique 206. I have worked at the boutique since they opened in 2014.

If you grew up in Guthrie and had your first job here…where?

I worked for my dad cleaning pools when I was younger and then started babysitting around the age of fifteen. I also worked at the Beacon Drive-In on occasion during the summer.

Do you have family here? If so explain…

I live with my parents and brother just outside of town. My sister and brother in law also live in Guthrie and I have an uncle and cousins here as well.

How did you first hear or learn about the Guthrie America brand?

I found my love for the GuthrieAmerica brand through the boutique. Laura, would always tell me about Heady and how he wanted to get GuthrieAmerica shirts made and sell them in the store.

What do you think about the GA brand?

To me, GuthrieAmerica is not just a shirt or a brand but more like a summary of what our town is. I think we forget the impact we can have on a life of someone even if we are complete strangers and I feel that this brand is just one more thing that brings our community together.

"I would hope that more people would shop local and support our businesses before going to corporate places."

Why do you wear GuthrieAmerica Tee?

I wear my GuthrieAmerica shirts(I may or may not have every color) and seeing others out in them and face watching their face light up when they notice we match.

What are your favorite things to do in Guthrie?.

Going to the Beacon Drive In Theater. My favorite thing as a kid was having movie nights here with my family.

We know Guthrie is awesome but tell us one thing you would change about it?

I would hope that more people would shop local and support our businesses before going to corporate places.

When you hear "community wins" what does that mean to you?

A small town coming together to rise above the rest.

Who would you like to give a shout out to?

I’d also like to give a shout out to my jiu jitsu people at Prodigy Jui Jitsu! If you haven’t checked this place out, you should.
