Tina Ogle

What's your name?

Tina Ogle

Where do you teach?

Guthrie Junior High School

How long have you been teaching?

I have been teaching for 17 years.

What is your super power to be able to rock out the work you do?

Organization! It might look like chaos-but it's organized chaos!

What made you want to teach?

My favorite subject has always been science - especially life science. I also loved working with junior high kids as a youth sponsor/youth pastor's wife at our church. I decided being a junior high science teacher would be the perfect job for me!

What gets you up everyday to go give your all to teaching?

My students - they need me and I need them!

If you could change one thing about education, what would you change?

BUDGET CUTS! They take so much away from our students

Where did you go to college?

I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in Biology Education

What's your favorite school supply?

Colorful pens and fine tip sharpies.

Favorite thing about teaching?

My favorite thing about teaching is interacting with the kids and making learning fun for them.

Who was your favorite teacher? Why?

My favorite teacher was my 7th grade science teacher, Mr. McElhaney. His class was so fun and he really cared about each of us. He did a lot of activities with us to reinforce the concepts that we were learning.

Teachers are...:

AMAZING!!

What is one tip you would share to be a successful teacher?

Let your students know you care about them, laugh with them, have fun with them, give smiles and hugs...these are the things they will remember the most.

What would you do if you were not teaching?

I would be a detective or a crime scene investigator.

The last time you cried at the end of the day teaching was because of what?

I cried because I wanted a student to see in himself what I see in him -that he's more than the circumstances that he has no control over. He is smart, funny, and talented. I wanted him to believe in himself as much as I believe in him.

Who inspires you in your work and why?

My coworkers inspire me. I work with the best staff on the planet! The love they have for teaching and our students is incredible.

How would you describe a conversation with one of your students?

Junior high kids are so funny - they will tell you just about anything!

What is it that the world does not know about teachers?

I think it would be that the world probably doesn't realize how much we genuinely LOVE our students. We laugh and celebrate with them, we cry and mourn with them - they become our "kids".

Share your biggest joy teaching as of today?

My biggest joy teaching is when I see my former students out making a positive difference!

One thing that makes you smile?

My family - they are the best!
