It's really not about socks on the floor in our marriage

I believe majority of the time the argument isn't really about socks being left on the floor or dishes not being washed. It's often times deeper than that. Like not feeling appreciated.

My wife and I have never argued about socks on the floor or dirty dishes but we have had discussions about them not getting done a few times over our 18 years.

But because of us getting relationship education and counseling early like before we were married and getting continuing education over our 18 years we know the importance of communication or addressing the deeper issue like respect, appreciation, hopelessness, valued, loved, commitment, etc.

And because of this, our kids have watched us model this in our home.

They also see us laughing together, talking cute to each, having couple meetings, etc.

We still have a long way to go. Long way... And we are still challenged with being consistent in the right things that keep us in a healthy place. However, I believe we have a thriving relationship overall due to what we have learned about the “right things” to be consistent to have a marriage that thrives.

Now, let me get these socks up before my wife comes down.
